Step-by-Step Application Technique

Do not pack powder into an empty feather follicle or onto skin; there, use gentle pressure with sterile gauze and contact your avian vet. 3. Maintain steady pressure until bleeding stops completely.
Contraindications & Safety Warnings
Styptic powder is strictly for external use on nail tips, broken blood feather shafts, and minor beak-tip bleeding. Never apply it to skin or soft-tissue wounds (it causes chemical burns and tissue damage), into an empty feather follicle, inside the mouth, into eyes or nares, or into any deep wound. For skin bleeding, apply gentle pressure with clean gauze (cornstarch can be used) and contact an avian vet.
